When You Whisper In My Dream
The sounds of the wind, birds, leaves, are like nature's talking, a way for it to communicate with us and transmit natural signals. Through these sounds I hope to evoke memories of the raw life force from nature and to make people experience it and realise our common presence and influence.

In a time of prevalent anthropocentrism, we often lose sight of our intrinsic connection to nature. By breathing the ebb and flow of the pillow, I reveal the intimate connection between us. This time, we can reconsider our relationship with nature and find a healing method from it

When I was a kid, I always played with my friends in this lawn. Whenever I was anxious and worried, I would always think of that childhood lawn and miss the peace and healing it brought me. However, when I returned to the lawn 13 years later, it had changed. The entire lawn had been dug up into an open field, a road had been built behind it, and when I walked into the centre of the lawn with my eyes closed, I felt as if I could hear it whispering to me.

I think this life force is a manifestation of panpsychism in a sense, because this life force inspires people to feel and think about the existence of the whole universe under the same essence with a pure and simple vision.
Therefore, I brought home the remaining grass seeds from this lawn and planted them on a pillow, making this childhood lawn a breathing pillow and creating a kind of immersive experience in which people can listen to the natural whispering sounds coming from this lawn, and see the images presented by these sounds along with the gentle breathing rhythm of the pillow.
During this listening and viewing process, the viewer relaxes into this primitive natural rhythm, as if entering a dream world, searching for the oasis in his or her memories.

2023/11/30, I went back to the lawn
I can hear the dry leaves still fluttering when the wind blows, the grass still growing between the cracks squeezed by the wheel marks, the cheerful birds never stop chirping, and the occasional sound of a car passing on the road further down the road, all of which are proof that the lawn is still alive.
I recorded these sounds and back in the city.

Sound Visualization

In TouchDesigner, I made digital images of different sounds recorded in four directions. By controlling the changes of the screen in real time with the recorded sound data, the sound on the lawn seems to gently show me the story of its day.

I let each of these sounds do its own thing, the wind passing by in clusters, bringing about changes of colour in the picture; the rattling of the grass and leaves shaking like soft leather straps; the birds and insects loud and undulating, scurrying out of the picture from time to time; the sound of traffic as an occasional elastic line passing by, which cbutton 6 1an be stretched out and drifted away.

Finally, these sounds overlapped, intertwined, and faded together into a complete picture, as if the lawn whispering softly in my dreams.
